This stained glass, installed at the entrance to Sendai Station in 1978 just before the opening of the Shinkansen, has become a symbol of the station. The work, created by the European-educated artist Zenjiro Chikaoka, was made with a wish for the development of Tohoku. The vivid colors of the stained glass feature motifs of Sendai’s iconic sights, such as the statue of Date Masamune on horseback, the Matsushima Godaido Temple, and the Tanabata decorations.
