Charming and warm folk toys from the Tohoku region

Founded by Toyonoshin Matsukawa, a samurai of the Date domain, during the Tempo era (1830–1844),Sendai's iconic folk craft, the "Matsukawa Daruma," was created as a symbol of comfort for the common people.To this day, Tohoku is home to nostalgic and charming regional toys that continue to be cherished today.We present a collection of beloved traditional toys from Tohoku, including Yawata-Uma, pigeon whistles, and Okiagari Koboshi.

It stores approximately 90,000 points including history, culture, arts and crafts document about Sendai Domain. We display approximately 1,000 points in permanent exhibition at any time, and display contents change every season.
