In 1932, the lacquer spraying technique "Tamamushi-nuri" was developed at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Craft Guidance Center in Sendai, as the country's first such initiative.The deep red color, with shimmering silver powder emerging from within,resembles the vibrant hues of a beetle, which is the origin of its name.Today, Tohoku Kogei Co., Ltd. continues to inherit the traditional techniques and philosophy, creating a wide variety of products.
