The black tiles adorning the wall are made from Gensho stone, a black, hard shale that originated 250 million years ago.It is called "Ogatsu stone" as it is mined in Ogatsu Town, Ishinomaki City. The Ogatsu inkstones were presented to Date Masamune, who is said to have praised them.Due to its strong resistance to aging, it is widely used in various applications, including the roof materials of Tokyo Station's Marunouchi building and designer tableware.
